Have you thought about becoming a Whitewater
River Guide, like Brynn, Jason, Laine, Jarrod, and Shawn? Or, like Eddie and
Tom do you want to build up your outdoor confidence and just have fun on the
river for a week? Or like Lori, a private boater, do you want to increase your
river skills and confidence? Are you looking for a new adventure in the
outdoors like Sandra, Ali, Cal, and Jennifer? Do you care if it is raining,
snowing, cold, and you are wet much of the time? Then guide school may be for
you!!
The course is conducted by several of Mariah's top
core guides, Nikki, Scottie, Janice, Dee Dee, and Amy, who have been
professionally training new guides for many years. Basic training is at Mariah
South Fork Campground, in Coloma. The course includes instruction, river
equipment, wet suit, meals, camping, and a 4:1 student/teacher ratio.
There was a whole lot of camaraderie, everyone helped each other, everyone got
real wet, swam in the current, flipped the boats, learned rescue techniques,
and laughed a whole lot. And now, everyone has the usual big stories to
tell: BIG WAVES, fast water, DEEP HOLES, unexpected rocks appearing out
of nowhere, COLD FEET, new muscles, NEW ACHES, definitely new skill, NEW
FRIENDS, lots of laughter at silly jokes, reputations both deserved and not
deserved. FOR SURE, EVERYONE HAS FABULOUS MEMORIES!! Come join
us March 15-22, 2008, the week prior to Easter. You will have so much fun, and
learn a lot about yourself and the river. What a gift to yourself! |
